Mark & Lisa Daley won last year’s prize draw for a holiday for 2 in St Lucia (including flights). Here is their story …

I couldn’t believe it when Diane called to say that I had won this years prize draw, an all expenses paid trip for two to St. Lucia – I mean I had never won anything in my life. But it was true. I called my Husband Mark straight away and all he could ask was how much do we have to pay into some offshore bank account! But happily this was all very real.

This prize settled what we were going to do for our 20th wedding anniversary. We were put in contact with Anne Dickinson from My St Lucia Vacations who booked up our holiday for the week of our anniversary in October.

Before we knew it we were on a BA flight and met by Anne at the airport who drove us personally to our resort called the Cotton Bay Village. As we entered we were shown the villa in the resort made famous by Amy Winehouse who resided there for a while.

The resort is awesome with a private feel and no such thing as ‘rooms’ – it’s all apartments and villas here. Our apartment had two bedrooms with kitchen, lounge room, and a private back garden leading directly to the (empty) pool area.

Everything was just wonderful actually, a perfect holiday

The place was basically guest free as it was the start of the season but they never have more than 170- guests at any one time, a deliberate policy. The pool is spacious and it’s even better when we you have it all to yourself – and the resorts beach was a mere 2 minute walk away from our front door.

The staff were fabulous and as for the food, our all inclusive was sensational. Chef Frederique who runs The Beach Club 14N 61W restaurant served up unbelievable food, from creole favourites to the best steak we have had in years. And he couldn’t be nicer. We thought about going to other restaurants but there was no need, it was all included and you couldn’t get better anywhere else anyway.

We did a couple of day trips, to the volcano and sulphur springs, an island cruise for whale watching where we spotted 2 sperm whales and plenty of dolphins swimming at the bow of our boat, wonderful days.

Everything was just wonderful actually, a perfect holiday. The only words of warning, if you come here, bring insect repellent as there definitely mosquitos about and bring earplugs as the frogs and crickets can make a big time racket from dusk to dawn.

Too soon it was time to go, Anne organised for us to take a scenic drive back to the airport through the mountains, a nice way to finish the trip.
